PRINT GALLERIES

.For the past decade I’ve been working exclusively on a series of harshbeautiful portraits, and there are now over 250 faces in the official collection. For me every image feels like an intimate painting, because it takes me up to 15 hours of fine post-production editing to complete each portrait.

My primary focus is on middle aged men, though this is not a rigid choice – the series includes some women, younger and older men, and trans men. Many sitters are gay, though not exclusively so. This work explores the deep beauty of ageing and imperfection at a time when so much in popular culture celebrates bland airbrushed youthfulness.

The twelve galleries in the pull-down menu above span a decade of harshbeautiful portraiture, broadly clustered from the most recent in gallery one though to a sweep through the very earliest in gallery twelve.

Many of my portraits are available for sale as collectors’ quality signed limited edition C-type fine art prints on archive paper, in a variety of sizes:

  • 90x60cm for £1,230.00 each, issued as an edition of 5 prints (with 2 artist’s proofs)
  • 60x40cm for £950.00 each, issued as an edition of 5 prints (with 2 artist’s proofs)
  • 30x20cm edition for £100.00 each, issued as an edition of 150 prints (with 2 artist’s proofs)
  • Prints are also available at 20x13cm for £30.00 each, issued as an open edition.

The turnaround from ordering to posting is approximately one week, with collection from my studio in London, or delivery to anywhere in the world.

Please contact me via james@jamesmbarrett.com for shipping costs and to talk through your choices in more detail. It’s always good to connect, whether you are an experienced investor wanting to expand your portfolio, or someone entirely new to collecting ready to make your first unique purchase.

Do also consider commissioning your own signed limited edition fine art portrait so that your image can become part of the harshbeautiful project too. Prices from £950.00 for a 60x40cm print – full details here.
